Kenyan businesswoman Michelle Ntalami is celebrating a significant milestone—one year of sobriety.
In an Instagram post on Monday, August 5, 2024, the Marini Naturals founder reflected on her journey and the positive changes since quitting alcohol. “Today I celebrate one year of sobriety! Imagine fam, one full year of zero alcohol! And that includes champagne and the ever-defended ‘harmless glass of wine,” she wrote.
Reflecting on the scepticism she faced a year ago when she first announced her 30-day milestone, Ntalami proudly shared, “I recall last year when I first shared that I was celebrating my 30-day milestone, some folks laughed and said 30 days is too short and soon I’ll be back at it. Well, here we are, a full year!”
Ntalami explained that her decision to quit wasn’t driven by addiction but by a desire for positive change. Three months before officially quitting, she stopped clubbing and gave away her alcohol stash, determined to cut out anything and anyone not beneficial to her well-being.
“While I was never addicted, it doesn’t take one to be addicted to let go of a bad habit. If anything, that’s the best time to quit as you have more resolve to let go of it before you’re bound,” she added.
Ntalami also noted the benefits of an alcohol-free life, including better skin, improved sleep, and overall well-being.
