Media Personality Sheila Mwanyigha Shares How She Got On Radio

Sheila Mwanyigha, a multi-faceted Kenyan talent, boasts a radio career as vibrant and engaging as her personality itself.

But her journey to becoming a household name didn’t begin with a microphone in hand. It started with voice-overs, a stepping stone that propelled her into the exciting world of radio.

In a recent interview with The Sauce, she shared how she got on radio which involved the bold step of visiting the former Capital FM Offices on the 19th floor of Lonrho house to talk about her love for doing commercials and voice overs hoping someone would give her – a budding musician going by the name Nikki by then, a chance.

Sheila’s radio career officially took off with an interview on Kiss FM, leading to her first on-air role as a presenter. This marked the beginning of a prolific radio journey that spanned over a decade. She quickly rose through the ranks at Nation FM (formerly Easy FM), taking on roles like presenter, producer, head of research, and eventually, programs controller.

Additionally, she became synonymous with East Africa’s biggest musical reality show, “Tusker Project Fame,” serving as a presenter and demonstrating her passion for the arts. She also co-hosted NTV’s popular breakfast show “AM Live.”
