Dancehall icon Vybz Kartel has officially proposed to his long-time partner, Sidem Öztürk, marking a deeply emotional milestone in their relationship.
The artist known for his many hits, shared the heartfelt announcement in a video posted on Instagram Tuesday. In the accompanying caption, Kartel expressed his deep love and appreciation for Öztürk.
“It’s official… I proposed in prison, but I proposed in real life,” he wrote. “You were there when I needed you most, and I’ll never leave you, baby. I cherish every visit, every phone call, and all the moments we spent talking, laughing, and even crying together. You’ve been my rock, my best friend, and my companion. I pray we stay together for as long as I live. I love you, baby.”
Kartel and Öztürk’s love story began in 2015, during his imprisonment following a murder conviction. Over the years, the couple’s bond grew stronger, with both publicly sharing their dedication to one another during interviews. Their commitment and resilience were evident as they navigated difficult moments until Kartel’s release in July, after his conviction was overturned.
