Lil’ Jokey Joke Gone Awry? Davido Set To Sue K24 Over Viral Fools’ Day Prank

Davido is not the one to play with, and he’s not ‘unavailable’ enough to prove the fact. See what we did there?

After a successful performance in Nairobi on August 30, that saw him entertain thousands who had thronged Uhuru Gardens at the inaugural Raha Festival, the hitmaker was in the headlines for all the right reasons through the weekend, until he was not.

He is now set to seek legal redress over a viral post by K24 claiming an arrest over cocaine possession caught insurmountable attention. In a statement posted to his Instagram stories, the singer downplays the allegations the post harbored, saying, “I have never been arrested by anyone in any country for any crime in the world. Not my home Nigeria, my home America or any of the countries I’ve made home throughout my career.”

He goes on to call the allegations “extremely irresponsible” before adding that his lawyer is set to seek legal recourse for the same and thanking fans for support.

On Monday, April 1, the local publication saw it fit to publish a fabricated story in their quest to join the April Fools’ Day bandwagon. The story detailed a false account of the Afrobeats star being detained at JKIA over a supposed Ksh 18 million cocaine haul nabbed at his private jet as he left Nairobi.

After the post by the media house gained more attraction, DCI was forced to issue a statement clarifying that no arrest of such had been made, that would prompt K24 to delete the post with the quickness.
