Kenyans Bag Top Admissions To Ivy League Universities In The U.S

Kenyans take the lead in university admissions amongst African students.

According to Eddie Mandhry, Yale Director for Africa “Kenyans continue to hold the largest share of admissions to Yale from Africa, which shows the premium the country puts on quality education.”  Data from Yale University provided information on the admission rates of African students with Kenyans taking the biggest slice of the pie with 24 admissions. Nigerian followed closely in admissions with 23 students, Zimbabwe secured the third spot with 18 admissions and South Africa were in last with 16 admissions.

With more students seeking scholarships, competition has heightened. Yale is ranked fifth in the U.S.A according to Times Higher Education University Rankings. Yale ranked 15th globally is said to have a considerable percentage of international students with 24% of its undergraduates and 76% of postgraduate students being international students. In addition to this, QS ranking reports that 1,644 out of the total 4,783 academic faculty staff are international.

With recent developments in American politics, the number of students of non-American origin applying to study in American institutions is set to decline.
