Seedstars is hosting its first-ever virtual Seedstars International Demo Day 2020 on October 14, 2020. Among the esteemed 18 international ventures include Kenyan-based startups Pezesha and Fuzu.
“We have two goals with a demo day. First, we have asked the founders to put the ‘demo’ back into demo day and I hope that participants will get real insights into how the companies operate and their value propositions. Second, we want to share with the world the incredible opportunity and talent we’ve discovered in 2020 and encourage more people to focus their time, money, or know-how on emerging markets,” shared Seedstars CIO Charlie Graham-Brown.
With a growing portfolio of 60 companies in 25 countries and with around 30 investments being added each year, Seedstars is continuously on the lookout for the next group of startups to help scale and add to the growing global network of entrepreneurs in emerging markets. The Seedstars Growth Program is designed to help companies with early signs of product-market fit to implement a growth methodology and unlock their growth formula, positioning them to raise their Series A round.
The cohort brings together a variety of tech solutions for a number of industries, with the startups specifically from Kenya focused on FinTech and HR Tech solutions. Startup hailing from Kenya, Pezesha is a Digital Infrastructure for financial inclusion of the underserved in Africa, currently reaching 7.23% week-on-week growth in terms of the value of loans disbursed, with rolling 30% monthly growth rate.
Fuzu is a scalable online career accelerator platform, enabling users to enhance their chances of finding the right job and developing the needed skills through online content. The platform serves B2B clients by efficiently providing HR sourcing services for both entry and mid-level white-collar profiles. It is hailed as the number one job board in Kenya and growing.
Despite Covid-19, Seedstars onboarded 18 startups to make up Batch 5 & 6 with a focus on companies either benefiting from or resilient to the crisis. On top of receiving access to thousands of USD-worth tools like Amazon Web Services, Xero, HubSpot, and more, participating startups receive 50K USD in investment from Seedstars and potential follow-on tickets from Seedstars and its network of investors.
Fellow startups from Asia, Africa, CEE, MENA, and LATAM regions also offer solutions in other verticals including FinTech, HealthTech, FoodTech and AgriTech, TravelTech, HR Tech, and EdTech.
The culmination of the post-acceleration program will be live-streamed on Seedstars’ social media platforms and attendees can also register to meet with the startups.
