Kenyan Chef Maliha Mohammed just made history, with her latest feat.
Mpishi Bora mwenye Chef Maliha broke the Guinness World Record, after cooking for 75 hours straight. That translates to 4,500 minutes of cooking. The Mombasa-based chef began her journey to landing her name in the history books back in May 2019 after staging a trial run where she cooked for 36 hours and whipped up 100 meals. In July, she went on to cook for 54 hours, doubling her output creating 200 meals within that time frame.
According to a report on The Star, the chef was motivated by the underprivileged within the coastal city of Mombasa. The meals she prepared will be offered to charity homes and orphanages as part of her initiative to raise awareness and to feed the less fortunate. Maliha who has never worked in a restaurant delivered her meals in a timely fashion, in the presence of family and friends who cheered her on from the sidelines.
The chef who started cooking on Thursday, August 15, at exactly 10 am to Sunday, August 18, has beaten the record set by Rickey Lumpkin of California, the US, who cooked for 68 hours, 30 minutes, 1 second in December 2018, as reported by Daily Nation.
