Real Housewives of Atlanta Kandi Burruss still got it.
The Xscape singer and songwriter recently teased her collaboration with Grammy-nominated Ariana Grande. Now a few days later, the track “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” is finally out and has many surprised at the collab. Writing for several other big acts including TLC for the Grammy-winning track “No Scrubs” as well as the memorable track “Bills, Bills, Bills” for Destiny’s Child, Kandi has some great writing credits. The reality television star took to the Gram to celebrate the win.
Burruss has also worked on solo projects and enlisted the help of Pink to write her debut track “There You Go.” A businesswoman and established music industry heavyweight, Burruss was the first African-American woman to win the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers’ Songwriter of the Year award in 2000.
In 2018, she and her group members Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, LaTocha Scott, Tamika Scott, and Tamera Coggins-Wynn returned to the stage, touring the United States to the thrill of their millions of fans. The group was also recognized, being awarded the prestigious ASCAP Golden Note Award according to an article by Bravo. The event that was held on June 21st, 2018 in Los Angeles saw the 90s group feted for their musical repertoire and impact on the music industry 25 years after they first began. ASCAP president Paul Williams said in a statement, “Xscape knocked us all out in the ‘90s with their powerful vocal harmonies and surprised absolutely no one as they went on to become one of the most prolific female R&B groups of all time.”
The track “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” is the most recent musical offering from Burruss.
Her last album “Kandi Koated” was released in 2010.
