Famous on the interwebs, Grumpy cat has continued to the subject of memes across the globe.
Known for his grouchy demeanor, Grumpy cat’s images went viral in 2012 after their use on social media, giving millions of internet users joy and laughter since. According to the BBC, she died on Tuesday following complications from a recent urinary tract infection.
The sad news was announced via Twitter, where thousands of followers shared their condolences to the family who took care of the meme god. One said, “This past week really has sucked. Rest in peace you amazing feline, you will be missed.” Another condoled with the family saying, “Heartbroken. Sending my love to Tabatha and all your family. That came as quite the shock.”

Grumpy cat whose real name was Tardar Sauce traveled the world making television appearances and in 2014 even starred in her own Christmas film. She also had a wax figure unveiled in 2015, at the Madame Tussauds Museum in San Francisco.
