Rapper Mejja’s new song has been pulled off from YouTube due to an alleged copyright claim.
The rapper, 42, dropped the viral ‘Tabia za Wakenya’ track just about 3 weeks ago and it had since garnered 2 million views.
‘’It is all malice and I am honestly so hurt. This is the second time that somebody has falsely accused me of jacking off their song and had my material removed from YouTube. Typically, when somebody issues such a claim to the platform, whether true or not, the content in question gets pulled out for a fortnight as investigations into the said matter are carried out. That is what has me the most perturbed. I am being mentally tortured for something that is not even true,‘’ he emotionally narrated on a phone call with The Sauce.
The artist who made the claim is one Bouja Bwuoy, whose song Hamisa, the one he alleges Mejja jacked, was uploaded to YouTube 3 months ago and has just over 2000 views on the same platform.
‘’Clemmo and I resolve going the legal route. I cannot keep getting hurt over and over. I am too weak to even type hence why I requested that we have a phone call instead to conduct this interview,’’ he further told The Sauce.
A clearly infuriated Mejja also posted a snippet of the song on his Instagram, in his quest to prove just how unlike the two songs are. ‘’This is the song that has occasioned ‘Tabia za Wakenya’ being pulled from YouTube. The tomfoolery and hate I deal with on a daily are out of this world. I am about done being the humble guy who takes everything lying down and I am confronting this head-on,‘’ he posted.
Months prior to this incident, another one of his songs dubbed ‘Naitwa Mejja’ was pulled from YouTube on sampling claims.
