Capital FM radio host Amina Abdi Rabar is a woman of many talents, not only is she an award-winning TV and radio personality, she is also an emcee and singer.
Life in the public eye requires her to portray a presentable image and thus bringing about her love for fashion.
Amina bagged an award as East Africa’s Most Stylish female host of the year at the recently concluded East Africa Fashion Awards. The 2020 East Africa Fashion Awards went down in Kampala, Uganda a few days ago.
The initial awards gala night was to take place in Kampala, Uganda, on March 28, 2020, but due to COVID-19, it was postponed.
Speaking to The Sauce following the win, the Breakfast show host described fashion as a language and expressed her shock over the unexpected win. According to her she did not ask for votes but she was truly humbled by the award.
“I genuinely did not ask for votes as I assumed it would be an awkward ask given the unprecedented times we are currently living in so I was both shocked and happy to win it,” said the mother of one.
Amina’s career has been in the industry for more than a decade and in the last couple of years, she has become a fashion icon in the Kenyan media industry with the help of celebrity stylist Brian Babu.
The bubbly personality admits that her line of work gives her a unique opportunity to explore fashion and play dress up with her stylist as she seeks to find the perfect outfit for each and every engagement that she has.
The Trend host explained, “Over the years I’ve enjoyed playing dress-up with my super award-winning stylist Brian Babu, and exploring what I like. Who I am. Like many people how I dress is dictated by how I feel. Given how many hats I wear, I’ve learnt to dress very very differently based on what occasion I’m gracing. I dress differently for Koroga as opposed to moderating a session at the UN or how I dress for the turn up is definitely not how I would dress for The Trend hence how I end up just being so versatile.”
In regards to the Coronavirus pandemic, Amina is urging everyone to take the necessary precautions like wearing masks, social distancing and even self isolating in order to curb the spread of the deadly respiratory disease. Adding that we should all try to be kind to one another as we forge ahead in these tough times.
The award winning media personality has also been nominated as the TV personality of the year at the 2020 Africa Choice Awards. She will be going up against some of Nigeria’s finest including her Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards co-host IK Osakioduwa.
