Harmonize releases average Afro Bongo EP after a week of waiting

Sorry Bongo fans, the Afro Bongo EP by Tanzanian Harmonize is a definite miss.

Tanzanian music star Harmonize finally released his most anticipated collaborative EP Afro Bongo after a week of waiting and unfortunately, it lacks that ‘Wasafi hit’ factor that fans have come to know and love. As earlier reported by The Sauce, the Afro Bong EP is a blend of afro and bongo music featuring four songs. The first is titled “Kainama” by ‘Konde Boy’ Harmonize, Wasafi boss Diamond Platinumz, and ‘African Giant’ Burna Boy.

The second track is “Show Me What You Got” featuring top Nigerian songstress Yemi Alade, then there is “Tepete” with ‘Uncle London’ Mr.Eazi. The last and final release is a solo track titled “Niteke” that was previously announced as a collabo with Tanzanian artist Sarah.

Despite having a good selection of top Nigerian acts and award-winning Bongo hitmaker, ‘Simba’ the EP has failed to live up to expectations of a true Wasafi artist body of work. The songs lackluster and could pass off as average songs by any number of Tanzanian artists. The prowess of his collaborators like Burna Boy and Mr. Eazi can barely be distinguished on the non-captivating tracks. Also despite having some of the best producers like Kriz Beatz and Chopstix on the EP, the beats are the same old, same old which makes it hard to believe that all these top artists were part of this production.

The EP has gotten mixed reactions from fans. While some are praising the new releases, the EP has failed to impress a number of fans as some commented on his Instagram posts that they only liked one or two songs on the EP while others said they felt that the songs were just average.

Afro Bongo is Harmonize’s first EP and he certainly could have done better. The “Atarudi” singer is currently promoting it in Nigeria where the presidential elections have just been concluded. A few weeks ago, the artist was reported to be a wanted man in Tanzania after he posted photos of himself and Burna Boy smoking marijuana on Instagram.
