Fireboy was born February 5th, 1996 in South-Western Nigeria. He has seen a rather meteoric rise after launching his music career and releasing his debut album Laughter, Tears, and Goosebumps in 2019.
Music Genre
DML’s music is Afrobeats-inclined, although he has tweaked it by infusing elements of R&B. He describes this as Afro-life. One track that lends itself to this artistic style is his 2019 hit single, Vibration.
Music Success
With his maiden album, the crooner hit the ground running. The single Jealous was the top hit of the album Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps (LTG). The song was feted at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards as the Song of the Year. He also bagged the Listener’s Choice Award at the festival. The LTG album became an instant success, garnering over 6 million streams on Spotify within just 72 hours of its release.
Peru Remix with Ed Sheeran
The star’s openness to shape and reshape Afrobeats continues to reflect in his works. He features the English pop musician, Ed Sheeran, on the remix of the smash, Peru. The song peaked #1 in the UK Apple Music charts, which is no mean feat for the singer.
