Elon Musk Demands That Twitter Staff Commit To ‘Hardcore’ Work

Elon Musk has given Twitter staff a deadline to commit to “hardcore” work.

The social media platform’s new owner has given remaining employees at the company a deadline of Thursday (17.11.22) to pledge to work “long hours at high intensity” or to leave with three months’ severance pay.

In an email to staff, seen by The Guardian newspaper, Musk claims that building the next iteration of Twitter would require “exceptional performance”.

The world’s richest man – who bought Twitter for $44 billion last month – wrote: “Going forward, to build a breakthrough Twitter 2.0 and succeed in an increasingly competitive world, we will need to be extremely hardcore. This will mean working long hours at high intensity. Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade.”

The message asked employees to click on a link if they want to be “part of the new Twitter” by Thursday evening.

Musk added: “Whatever decision you make, thank you for your efforts to make Twitter successful.”

The tycoon recently cut half of Twitter’s workforce and confirmed that the platform would be “much more engineering-driven” under his ownership.

Musk is known for his ferocious work ethic and accused Americans of “trying to avoid work” as he praised the Chinese labour force.
