Drake Choose Spotify Over Apple Music To Stream His Latest Project

Drake’s ‘More Life’ project won’t be exclusive to Apple Music.
The 30-year-old rapper has been closely tied with the streaming service since its launch in 2015, having already inked a deal manifesting in two exclusive album releases, exclusive music videos, TV advertising and tour sponsorship. However, it has been reported that Drake won’t be making his long-awaited playlist project – which is expected to drop on Saturday (18.03.17) – exclusive to Apple Music, and the tracks will also be available on Spotify and Amazon.
On Thursday (16.03.17) Spotify hinted at their involvement with the project when they tweeted: “New @Drake.#MoreLife coming soon.”

 

And Pitchfork magazine reports sources close to Amazon have confirmed the songs will also be available on their service at the same time as the Apple Music release. The ‘Hotline Bling’ hitmaker previously announced the project would be released in December, after he debuted the tracks ‘Two Birds One Stone’, ‘Fake Love’, and ‘Sneakin’ on his Apple Music OVO Sound radio show in October.

He said at the time: “I’m off mixtapes, you know? I wanna do a playlist, I wanna give you a collection of songs that become the soundtrack to your life. So this is more like the playlist. Like I said, dropping in December, all original music from me, but you may hear some tunes from the family on there.”

 

Drake also admits he would like to be remembered as an “emotion-evoking artist”. He said recently: “[I want] to keep people excited, give them new music, let them know I’m still hungry. I’m doing it to be remembered as a forward thinker. I want to be remembered… as an emotion-evoking artist”.
