Deputy President William Ruto this past weekend hosted an engagement party for his first-born daughter June at his Karen home.
June officially introduced her Nigerian fiance, Dr. Alexander Ezenagu, to her family and the world on Saturday (08.05.2021).
In the Kalenjin ceremony called ‘Koito’, the groom’s family are invited into the home for dowry negotiations and to get to know each other.
Ezenagu, from the Igbo tribe, holds an LLB from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria and is also a graduate of the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.
He currently is an Assistant Law Professor at the Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar. He is known to specialize in international tax law, transfer pricing, tax planning, investment advisory, and commercial law advisory and practice.
June holds a degree in International Communication. She joined the diplomatic service in Kenya in 2014 and she is currently Kenya’s Charge d’Affaires in Poland.
Sharing on her social media, June wrote: “Finally: He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favour from the Lord. I thank God for the blessings in this memorable moment. Today has been an important day as I have my better half @AlexEzenagu. Sincere thanks go to God, my dad, mom, sister, friends and all relatives.”
On Sunday, Mama Rachel Ruto tweeted a few photos from the engagement party. “Every mother’s joy is to share life’s family values, lessons, and milestones with her daughter,” she said, adding, “My heartfelt congratulations, love, and prayers to my daughter June on her new chapter.”
“June’s father kept the event small and simple and family-focused. His position as Deputy President was relegated as he played the role of a father. Ruto and his wife were great hosts,” Nigerian politician Osita Chidoka, who was head of the Nigerian delegation.
Speaking to The Sauce, former Capital FM mixmaster DJ Protégé, revealed that it was a pleasure to play at the event and the Deputy President was chilled out adding that he even joined him on the decks to play some music.
