Kenyan romantic comedy movie ‘Disconnect’ is getting a sequel with renowned actors Pascal Tokodi and Catherine Kamau Karanja at the helm.
According to the announcement, ‘Disconnect 2’ directed by award-winning filmmaker Tosh Gitonga will premiere on Netflix in December 2022.
Catherine Kamau who is popularly known as Kate Actress took to social media to announce the good news saying, “Playing lead with @pascaltokodi was a dream come true. @theafricandirector_ 🙌🏾. What a stellar cast @brendawairimu_ @misskihoro @brian_ogola. #DISCONNECT2.”
Pascal Tokodi joined the conversation saying, “We had so much fun making this one,” an indication that they did justice to the film.
Kate came into the limelight for her role in Citizen TV’s ‘Mother-in-Law’ where she played Celina. She has since featured in several local productions, including ‘Sue na Jonnie’, ‘Plan B’, and ‘Disconnect’.
‘Disconnect’ tells a story of a secret romantic attraction between two best friends, Celine (played by Brenda Wairimu) and Josh (Nick Mutuma), and their closest friends in Nairobi.
Celine has difficulty getting into the right kind of relationship and often relies on the advice and emotional support of her friends who include TK (Catherine Kamau-Karanja), the crazy one Judy (Patricia Kihoro) the prayer warrior Robin (Pierra Makena) Celine’s sister and Preeti (Aseem Sharma) her co-worker and the fun one.
In October 2020, ‘Disconnect’ became the third Kenyan movie to make it to the international streaming platform, Netflix after ‘Poacher’ and ‘Sincerely Daisy’.
