Rumors have been swirling that top Bongo artist Diamond Platnumz is set to tie the knot with his protégé Zuchu.
Singer Zuhura Othman known by her stage name, Zuchu is signed to Diamond Platnumz’s record label WCB Wasafi and has seemingly crossed the threshold of professionalism into romantic life.
Zuchu who joined the WCB stable in 2020 has become the megastar Diamond always knew she could be, and she has previously expressed her gratitude to her boss for the opportunity to live her dream. The two collaborated on the 2020 hit ‘Cheche’ which has amassed over 27 million views since its release.
The two have a relationship with all nuances of professional, romantic, complicated, uncertain, and even unknowable. Now reports claim that the two are set to get married this Valentine’s Day.
Social media posts by Zuchu’s mother and Taarab singer Khadijah Kopa saying she has blessed her daughter as she starts this new chapter in her life has continued to fuel these rumors. A comment by Diamond’s mother Sandra Dangote on Instagram seemingly confirmed her son’s big day.
Zuchu’s appearance on a mid-morning radio talk show on Wasafi Fm on 2nd February 2022 shed some light on the matter. When pressed on the issue of allegedly dating Diamond, she only mentioned a music show slated for Valentine’s Day, and not the alleged wedding.
Zuchu said, “Inshallah if that (marriage) ever comes to fruition then I will be glad. But on February 14, I will be headlining a big show.”
She also spoke about her mother’s cryptic post saying, “For my mother to post what she posted and my friends to follow suit was because they are happy for me. It is also about the significance of the day and how big the show will be.”
All indications say something big is coming but everything may not be as it seems. We have reasons to be skeptical, Diamond could be cruising the “date, marry, break-up, move on” rinse and repeat ship as he has done before. Or is this another elaborate publicity stunt?
