Global dancehall heavyweight Konshens is back with an explosive new single, “BDAUP (Back Dat Azz Up),” which dropped today, May 16.
The high-energy track boldly reimagines the legendary beat behind Juvenile’s classic anthem and comes with a personal stamp of approval from hip-hop mogul Birdman, who sent the iconic instrumental directly to Konshens’ team.
The collaboration was sparked spontaneously while Konshens was recording at Miami’s famed Hit Factory Studios during a passionate debate about the genre’s adaptability.
“Papa Keith and I were in the middle of an argument that raw dancehall can fit on any beat and work,” Konshens recalls. “We loaded up the track and I just let loose whatever came to mind. The whole station went crazy. What you’re hearing is exactly what we recorded that morning — 100% authentic DANCEHALL lyrics. The demand was so heavy, we had to reach out to Birdman for the original beat.”
“BDAUP” isn’t just a song — it’s a statement. A fearless fusion of dancehall swagger and hip-hop legacy, the track proves that real dancehall isn’t limited by genre—it elevates it.
