Bomet Governor Dr. Joyce Laboso succumbs to cancer

Bomet Governor Dr. Joyce Laboso is dead.

Her death comes barely two weeks after returning back to the country from India where she had gone to seek treatment for Cancer.

Laboso, 58 succumbed to cervical cancer today (29.07.19) at the Nairobi Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where she was admitted, his family said.

Deputy President William Ruto was among leaders who rushed to the hospital to condole the family Monday afternoon.

Earlier Monday, her office had issued a statement warning that visits to her hospital bed had been restricted.

“The governor is recuperating and is under observation by her doctors who have recommended her enough rest and limited visitation for a speedy recovery,” County Communications Director Ezra Kirui said in the statement.

Joyce Laboso was elected to the Parliament of Kenya to represent the Sotik Constituency in a by-election held on September 25, 2008. She succeeded her sister, Lorna Laboso, who died in a plane crash in the same year.

Laboso was one of three first female governors in Kenya, along with Charity Ngilu and Anne Waiguru.

A few days ago as reported by The Sauce, Kibra Member Of Parliament Ken Okoth passed on after long battle with colocteral cancer at the Nairobi Hospital.
