Beyonce Stuns & Chance The Rapper Beats Drake For Major Grammy Win

Beyonce, who is nominated for Record, Album and Song of the Year, performs songs from <em></em>her album <em>Lemonade</em> on stage during the 59th Grammy Awards.

The Grammy Awards hosted by the popular Brit TV host James Corden took place on the evening of the 12th of February in Los Angeles. The 59th edition of the award show saw the best in music dress up for a night to celebrate nominees of the highest accolades in music.


The highlights of the award ceremony featured great performances from music’ best. Beyonce’s performance awed the audience while dressed in gold and a crown adorning her head, celebrating her pregnancy that she announced only days before her performance. The powerhouse Adele also got on stage to perform a tribute to fallen icon George Micheal that got her a standing ovation despite a technical glitch at the beginning of her performance.


As the awards were handed out, it became clear that Adele was the biggest winner of the night with several awards. The Tottenham native, won 5 awards including Record of the Year for “Hello”, Song of the Year for “Hello” and Album of the Year for “25”.An emotional Adele went on stage to accept the awards all the while acknowledging Beyonce as her biggest inspiration. Out of breath and reflective on her journey to winning big at the Grammys, she shared her love for music and Queen Beyonce.

One the other hand, Beyonce won the Best Urban Contemporary Album  for “Lemonade” and Video of the Year for “Formation.” The surprises of the night included newcomer Chance The Rapper’s performances and wins in the category of Rap Album of The Year for ” Coloring Book” and, Best Rap Performance for “No Problem” as well as  Best New Artist.  The  23-year-old was elated at his win in the category for Best Rap Album, especially since it included Hip hop’s biggest artist like Kanye West, Drake, Dj Khaled, and even Schoolboy Q. With family, friends, and fans equally excited for Chance, he shared the best wishes he received from Drake after his big night at the Grammys.

Among the other notable winners include Kirk Franklin, “Losing My Religion” for Best Gospel Album. Ziggy Marley won for Best Reggae Album with his latest release under his name. Facing off against JBOOG, Rebulution and SOJA, Ziggy Marley scooped up the coveted award in his category.
