Beyonce has been confirmed as a performance headliner at the 2022 Oscar Awards, slated for Sunday, March 2022. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences made the announcement.
Queen Bey will perform Be Alive, King Richard’s official soundtrack, that is up for the Best Original Song trophy at the awards. The legendary superstar will reportedly open the show that will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
Further, the singer’s performance will be telecast via satellite from tennis courts in Compton, to enforce King Richard’s theme. King Richard depicts the story of tennis superstar sisters Serena and Venus Williams, who famously trained in Compton under the tutelage of their father, Richard Williams. Will Smith stars in the flick.
Other Orginal Song nominees set to perform on the award show Sunday are Billie Eilish and her brother Phineas. The sibling duo will perform No Time To Die, off of the James Bond movie by the same name. Sebastian Yatra will perform Dos Orguitas from Encanto while Reba McEntire will take to the stage with Somehow You Do from Four Good Days.
Be Alive is cowritten by Beyonce and songwriter Dixson.
