Awinja And Osoro Take The Wheel In New Comedy Series Titled ‘Sumbua Sacco’

A new Kenyan comedy series titled Sumbua Sacco is premiering on Friday, February 7th on Maisha Magic.

Set in the vibrant Lumumba Estate, the show follows Awinja and Osoro, a broke but ambitious couple played by Jackie Vike (Click Click Bang) and Cyprian Osoro (4 Better 4 Worse). Their fortunes change when Awinja wins big and they buy a matatu. However, they soon find themselves caught in the chaotic world of Nairobi’s matatu culture.

From unruly passengers and corrupt authorities to mounting debts, Awinja and Osoro face a whirlwind of challenges. Their boldness, resilience, and comedic antics bring the matatu industry’s hustle to life in a humorous and relatable way.

Produced by A-Wish Productions, the team behind Disco Matanga, the series features a talented cast including Humphrey Maina (Lies That Bind), Jimmy Ouma (Haki Mwitu), Kauthar Kang’ethe (Volume), and twins Nelly & Jane Wanjiku (Zora).

Producer Lawrence Murage shares, “The show started from an online skit with Awinja and Osoro, and after realizing the depth of stories in matatu culture, we decided to make it a TV series. It’s all about entertaining and letting viewers enjoy the ride.”

Margaret Mathore, Channel Head at Maisha Magic Plus, adds, “We’re thrilled to bring Awinja and Osoro to Maisha Magic. Their humor resonates deeply with our audience, and we believe Sumbua Sacco will be a hit.”

Catch the premiere on February 7th at 7:30 pm, with new episodes every Friday, exclusively on Maisha Magic Plus (DStv channel 163 / GOtv channel 3). Join Awinja and Osoro as they navigate the bumpy roads of Nairobi’s matatu world.
