American actress Yara Shahidi is going to be the first black Tinkerbell.
The Grown-ish star has just been cast to play Tinkerbell in a live-action Peter Pan remake on Disney.
Shahidi will play the fairycharacter Tinker Bell in the live-action movie ‘Peter Pan and Wendy,’ a remake of the original animated movie from 1953.
Yara is a 20 year old is an actress famed for her roles in TV shows likes Black-ish, Grown-ish, The sun is also a star and more.
She is also a passionate activist as she fights for equality and also encourages the Generation Z to vote so they can be part of a change in the society.
Just last week, Yara spoke at the 2020 Emmy Awards about the significance of on-screen inclusivity.
“The stories we tell on TV shape how we see ourselves in others, and how we are seen can many times determine how we are treated,” she said.
Her fans and the black community are super excited for Yara’s new role as it encourages more black representation in the film industry.
