Monday, the first day of a brand new week for many, can be a good day or it can be a bad day, it all depends on you.
If you are one of those people who find it hard to get through Mondays, often commenting that you hate Mondays and that it’s overwhelming, or it is difficult to come into work especially after a nice weekend of relaxation, you might want to retire your excuses. There are a few things you could do to make Mondays that much easier.
Here are a few easy tips to get rid of the Monday blues and have a day full of good vibes:
1. Get enough sleep and wake up early.
Go to bed a little early on Sunday night and be sure to get enough sleep so that you wake up feeling well-rested, If you’re only running on a couple of hours of sleep, it’s unlikely that you’re going to feel good about going anywhere when the alarm goes off Monday morning.
2. Get your energy boost.
Strive to get your energy levels to a high by getting in that work out in the morning, be it yoga or running in your neighborhood. Listening to your favorite music or mix will get your head bumping and will definitely put you in a good mood. Also, make sure that you get something in your tummy, a full stomach is a good thing.
3. Organize your desk.
When your desk is full of clutter, it is difficult to get any work done. Papers and post-it notes that are strewn all over your desk can be distracting. This can affect your focus while on your job. Consider clearing your desk so that all of your attention is directed toward the task at hand.
4. Write a to-do list.
Writing a to-do list will help you figure out what exactly you need to do for the day and help prioritize how and when they will be done. From errands to big tasks like preparing for an important meeting, a to-do list will help you get things in check lest you forget.
5. Ignore social media.
After the weekend is over and you’ve returned to work, you’ll probably have the desire to see what everyone else is doing. Refrain from checking your phone for the latest updates. It will just make you long for the weekend and regret going to work. Instead, check your phone when you get home.
6. Wear your favorite outfit.
Wearing your favorite work clothes can put you in a positive mood. When you look your best, you feel your best. This confidence can result in a can-do attitude that spreads like wildfire in the workplace. Use this new outlook to tackle some tough tasks and stay at the top of your game.
7. Collaborate with others.
Some tasks can seem a bit daunting when you are forced to do them alone especially at the beginning of the week. Ask others for advice about certain issues or seek help for some aspects of the project. The support of others is invaluable. But be sure to repay that kindness later in the week by offering your services to them otherwise they might become reluctant to give you some assistance.
8. Have a post-work plan.
Your day shouldn’t just be about trudging through Monday to get it over with, but about looking forward to something. By making Monday a special day where you get to go out with friends, make your favorite dinner, or eat some ice cream and catch up on a TV show, the day become more than just being about getting up to go into the office.
