Why Content Creators Need To Develop A Thick Skin On Social Media

Social media can be a challenging and complex space to navigate, and there is no doubt that it can be a vicious place at times.

Social media provides a platform for people to express themselves freely, and sometimes this can lead to hateful and harmful behavior. Social media can also be a breeding ground for misinformation, which can lead to confusion and mistrust among users.

Many individuals use social media to bully, harass, and shame others. These negative behaviors can have serious consequences on the mental and emotional health of those who are targeted.

Content creators often receive trolling on social media due to a number of reasons, such as jealousy, anonymity, the desire to be noticed or validated, disagreement with the creator’s views or opinions, or simply for the sake of being mean.

This was the case for popular TikTok star Azziad Nasenya who was on the receiving end of some criticism by a social media user recently.

The social media user ranted saying, “Reason as to why I don’t follow Azziad on any of her socials is because her content is oversexualized, and there is nothing to learn or any value added from anything she posts. Call me a hater, but it’s the truth. Sex sells.”

The unperturbed influencer replied saying, “You do you boo. Don’t ever let anyone force you to do what you don’t like. Stick to your lane and run your race.”

This highlights some of the challenges of being a content creator including backlash for doing their own work and minding their business, proving that in all areas, even in content creation, there’s always going to be turmoil.
