Heinz has launched a range of ice cream kits.
The food company – famed for sauces including tomato ketchup – is branching out into a new bizarre food craze, by giving its customers the chance to create ice cream flavoured with five different condiments.
The condiments available for this interesting venture are tomato ketchup, mayonnaise, salad cream, saucy sauce and BBQ sauce, and the recipes are easy to follow.
The recipe kits cost £15 and buyers are given a bottle of their chosen condiment to experiment with, as well as limited edition engraved golden scoop and spoon to enjoy their creations.
David Chalbert, senior brand manager for Heinz sauces, said: “This summer is looking different for many of us, and while we might be staycationing or staying at home more than in other years, it doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the joys of a good ice cream.”
The six Heinz Creamz kits also come in smokey BBQ flavour, best topped with a sprinkling of bacon bits, and Salad Cream, paired with strawberries and Saucy Sauce – a blend of mayonnaise and ketchup.
However, the condiment-inspired treats, to celebrate National Ice Cream Month, have divided opinion with Heinz fans revealing how the creations have gone ‘too far’ and branded the move a ‘sacrilege’.
