Chocolate will soon be enjoyed like wine with different labels and vintages.
An expert has claimed that growers will be able to make chocolate taste like berries, nuts or caramel without adding any extra ingredients.
Chocoholics will only need to change the way they ferment cocoa beans to create a variety of different tastes.
Dr. David Gopaulchan, of Nottingham University, told the Royal Society summer exhibition: “I think the industry is going to become like the wine industry.
“People will be able to enjoy chocolate in their favourite flavours, from a specific country or a certain year.”
Gopaulchan also suggested that chocolate will be made healthier thanks to changes in the industry.
He explained: “Better natural flavour also means we can use less sugar and more cocoa, which will make the chocolate healthier.”
