They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away but injecting yourself with 20 different types of fruit juices may get you to the hospital very fast rather than staying healthy.
A woman in China almost died after injecting herself with liquidized fruit in a bid to be healthy.
The 51-year-old woman named Zeng suffered liver, kidney, heart and lung damage and was put into intensive care for five days, the BBC reported.
There were over 20 kinds of fruit in the intravenous injection, an employee at the Affiliated Hospital of Xiangnan University in Hunan told the BBC.
It was also reported that she began feeling itchy and noticed a raised temperature after injecting a huge amount of fruit juice with a homemade IV drip and was taken to hospital in Guiyang, China when her husband noticed she didn’t look well.
Social media users in China claim the case highlights the need for basic medical knowledge. She was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital, before being transferred to a general ward and later discharged.
