She’s an icon, a legend and the moment! Victoria Monét’s got next, ask no questions about it!
The extremely talented singer-songwriter and performer’s video for her hit record ‘On My Mama’ is by every ounce one of the best visual works this year. Move over, ‘Party Girls.’
The choreography-intensive video sees Monét and her dancers execute the ultimate high-octane choreography, pulling every slick move seamlessly, thanks to her second-time collaborator, top choreographer Sean Bankhead. References from revered performers like Ciara and Mya are pretty evident.
The video borrows heavily from the Southern HipHop scene as evidenced as in the lowrider trucks Monét and troupe are dancing in and the Black sorority who come out to tribute HBCU culture.
‘On My Mama’ samples Chalie Boy’s hit – ‘I Look Good’ – hence his cameo appearance in the video. Other notable videos entail Monét’s mom and daughter.
The hit is off of the singer’s highly-anticipated album, Jaguar II, that comes out August 25.
