Ugandan Ghetto Kids have made the continent proud after reaching the finals of the UK reality talent show Britain’s Got Talent (BGT).
The dance group of six gave a stellar performance in the finals on Sunday, at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, UK.
The dance group competed against 9 other finalists and were defeated by comedian Viggo Venn, who won a whopping £250,000 (Ksh.43 million). Lilliana Clifton, a 13-year-old dancer, finished second, and Cillian O’Connor, a 14-year-old magician, finished third.
They had already made history by earning a golden buzzer on April 17, which shot them straight to the Semi-Finals where they got the most votes, securing them a spot in the finals.
The kids took to social media to thank the show for the opportunity to perform on a global stage, as well as their fans who supported them throughout the 3-week competition.
“We thank the Almighty GOD who has brought us this far. Without HIM, nothing would have been possible. We also thank @BGT who have given us the chance to showcase our talent on the world stage. Finally, we thank y’all for your unwavering support throughout the competition,” they wrote on Twitter.
