Love Matters: Three reasons why you should enjoy being single this Valentine’s

‘’If you really are going to be happy single, you have to stop treating being single as the annoying time that you pass between relationships and embrace it.’’ Natalie Lue.

You have heard it everywhere by now, February is the month of love and with Valentine’s coming up, most people are still planning on what to do, with many in relationships eagerly waiting for what their partner has in store for them, unlike the single people who actually have to plan for themselves.

Here is why you should enjoy this season despite being single.

1. No expectations

The good thing about being single this February is you have the chance to be free from this pressure, not to say that those in a relationship don’t enjoy the process of treating their loved ones on this special season, but think about it, there are no expectations from you at all! You are free! Free in the sense that you don’t need to prove yourself to anyone hustling up and down booking a reservation, buying those flowers, choosing the right dress and many more that you don’t need to stress about.

2. Spend less

Perhaps what makes you happy is taking yourself out for a cup of coffee or just simple things like binge-watching a movie. Whatever makes you happy is not in the hands of another person, you can simply do it yourself! Even with Valentine coming up, book that ticket for a comedy show, Call your friend, Make yourself that homemade pizza, book a trip, just do it, if you don’t do it for yourself you may get disappointed waiting for another person to do it. Here is your chance to treat yourself with any budget, how fantastic is that!!

3. Meet new people

Well, even in Churches today, organizations or even schools, there are programmes and events where single people can meet, engage and just have a good time together. Gone are the days where the month of love is only about boy and girl or the romantic bit of it, it’s a season to love others and to even remind ourselves about the good things about us, re-examine our lives and just spread love because as it said, no one can pour from an empty cup! So enjoy this season to the fullest, it will teach you what Love truly is!!

Are you single or in a relationship this Valentine’s? What are your plans for this love season?
