The Late Nipsey Hussle’s Grammy nominated album at no.2 on U.S charts

Murdered American rapper Nipsey Hussle’s only official studio album has returned to the U.S chart at number two.

This comes a week after he was shot and killed at the age of 33 outside his clothing store in Los Angeles.

‘Victory Lap’ has reached a new chart peak, having made it to number four on its initial release in March 2018. The album racked up 66,000 equivalent album sales last week. The album was also nominated for the 2019 Grammy Awards in the Best Rap Album category alongside Cardi B and Travis Scott.

That was bettered only by 17-year-old Billie Eilish, whose debut album ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ went straight in at number one.

As reported by The Sauce, stars including Drake, Rihanna, Pharrell Williams, Snoop Dogg, and The Game paid tribute to Hussle. A man named Eric Holder has pleaded not guilty to murder and attempted murder.

Four of Hussle’s earlier mixtapes, 2010’s The Marathon, 2013’s Crenshaw, 2014’s Mailbox Money, and 2016’s Slauson Boy 2 have also now debuted on the Billboard 200.

According to Variety, a memorial service for the rapper will be held at LA’s 21,000-seater Staples Center on Thursday (11.04.19).

Kanye West’s popular Sunday Service paid tribute to the fallen legend. Kanye featured audio of Nipsey’s voice saying inspirational words about believing in your own music, backed by a choir and live band. This follows J.Cole, Big Sean, Drake and Kenya’s Khlaigraph Jones both honoring Hussle at various events since Nipsey’s untimely death.

Nipsey is survived by his longtime partner Lauren London with whom he had a two-year-old son Kross and he was also a father to daughter Emani, who he had from a previous relationship.
