The world’s biggest book, The Big Bad Wolf, whose mission is to make books accessible and affordable for all, is coming to Kenya at the Sarit Center Expo.
Speaking during an interview with Capital Lifestyle, Chief Executive Officer and Founder Andrew Yap says bringing the book fair to Kenya aims at improving the attitudes towards building the reading culture in the country and advocate English literacy around the globe.
“If books were readily available and accessible, people would read because humans are naturally drawn towards books, our initiative hopes and aims to improve reading attitude here and across Africa by giving access to books for thousands of books,” Yap said.
Yap further added that their partnership with Sharjah Book Authority has helped them venture into Africa to advance their mission in book reading hoping to scale up to the rural population with positive response
“Our next step is to hopefully go diverse by reaching to the rural population and cities in the country if we receive immense support and we believe the reception by Kenyans will be positive. We have to move on a big scale, the margins are really low because the books are affordable, so we can move,” Yap added.
The sale will begin from October 14th to the 23rd at the Sarit Expo Centre, with over 500,000 books in 15,000 titles up for grabs at discounts of up to 80% of the recommended retail price.
The Big Bad Wolf Books was founded in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2009, as the brainchild of BookXcess’ founders, Andrew Yap and Jacqueline Ng to encourage reading culture, inspire dreams, among others.
