Weird World: Teenager disciplined for charging exorbitant prices for hand sanitizer

A teenager was suspended from school for charging fellow pupils 50p about 63Ksh for a squirt of hand sanitizer.

Oliver Cooper, 13, capitalized on coronavirus fears to earn himself £9 approximately 1,134Ksh after charging people to use the cleansing product – but he soon fell foul of staff at his school in Leeds.

His mother exposed the young man for what many called ‘an entrepreneurial spirit’ and went on to reprimand the young man for cashing in on the anxiety of his schoolmates over the quickly spreading coronavirus. She captioned the post, “Well the little turd has just been expelled from school for the day after been caught charging students 50p a squirt for hand sanitizer to protect themselves from the bloody coronavirus!! 🙄”

She went to add, that Oliver’s father was impressed by his business acumen. She wrote, “Very hard to discipline this behavior when his dad phones him from work to call him a fucking legend.”

The post that has now gone viral with more than 110,000 comments. Based on the reactions on the Facebook post, Oliver has been branded a ‘legend’ with others urging him to continue “building his business empire”.

Explaining his motivation to cash in, Oliver noted: “All I can listen to is the radio. They’ve been going on about the coronavirus and how important hand sanitizer and washing your hands is. So before the bus came, I bought a tub of hand wash from Tesco and offered it to my mates. They gave me the idea that I could charge for it, so I did.”

“Other people at school sell stuff like chewing gum, if somebody wants something, they will pay for it. Loads of people wanted this. It’s ridiculous really!” According to USAToday, “Oliver used the proceeds to purchase a bag of Doritos – and plans to buy a kebab with the rest of his cash.”

Oliver, who attends Dixon’s Unity Academy, now faces a day in isolation followed by a two-hour detention after breaking school rules.
