Sex Tape Scandal Spurs Equatorial Guinea To Install CCTVs In Government Offices

The government of Equatorial Guinea has launched an unprecedented crackdown on inappropriate behavior in government offices following a sex scandal involving the Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), Baltasar Engonga.

Engonga is at the center of controversy after over 400 explicit videos, reportedly involving him and the wives of high-ranking officials, were leaked online, causing national outrage and serious damage to the country’s reputation.

In response to the scandal, the government of Equatorial Guinea has ordered the installation of surveillance cameras in courts and ministries to curb “indecent and illicit acts.” Additionally, officials implicated in the scandal have been suspended, according to a statement from the Equatorial Guinea Press and Information Office, published on the government’s website on Tuesday.

The leaked videos, allegedly depicting Engonga in intimate acts with prominent women, including the spouses of ministers and close relatives of senior officials, have exposed a significant scandal within the nation’s political elite. Among those allegedly involved are the wife of the Director General of Police, a cousin, and even a sister of the President.

The tapes reportedly surfaced during an investigation into Engonga’s suspected financial misconduct, with a raid on his home uncovering hundreds of videos.

In response, Equatorial Guinea’s government swiftly condemned the scandal and instituted a ban on sexual activities within government offices. Authorities labeled the leaked content as deeply damaging to the nation’s international image and have vowed to impose stricter regulations on workplace conduct.
