Sauti Sol Announce Indefinite Hiatus, Farewell World Tour

Celebrated Kenyan boyband, Sauti Sol has announced that they will be taking an indefinite break from working as a group as the members seek to work on personal projects.

“While the indefinite hiatus marks the end of a specific chapter, it also represents a new beginning for Sauti Sol.”

The band members consisting of Bien Aime Baraza, Savara Mudigi, Willis Chimano and Polycarp Otieno insisted that their friendship and shared vision of over 20 years continue to be the driving force behind their future projects.

In a statement on Saturday, the band said this will start after the scheduled world tour that will see them perform in various countries across Europe and America.

“The upcoming tour across the US, Europe, and Canada is a chance for fans to immerse themselves in the magic of Sauti Sol one last time before the band takes a break from group projects for a while. Each performance will be infused with a sense of deep love and gratitude as the ensemble delivers their timeless hits and fan favourites that have left an indelible mark on our collective memories,” they said.

The announcement comes ahead of their scheduled performance at the Stanbic Yetu Festival in Nairobi on June 10, which will be their second last show in Kenya, as a group.

Their final show in the country will be at the third annual Sol festival on the 16th of December, 2023.

15 years after their debut studio album Mwanzo, Sauti Sol will drop their last album this year in what will be a reflection of their musical journey as a band.
