Sanaipei Tande Flies Kenyan Flag High At Intervision Contest In Russia

Sanaipei Tande recently represented Kenya at the International Music Contest “Intervision” held in Moscow, Russia. The event, which featured contestants from 21 countries, is a showcase for sharing cultures and traditions from different countries the world over.

For her performance, Sanaipei Tande performed her song “Flavour.” She proudly represented her country and her performance was described as having “fiery rhythms” that got many viewers dancing.

Despite her strong showing, Kenya placed 18th out of 21 participating countries. Vietnam was crowned the winner of the contest.

Intervision is a revival of a Soviet-era music contest that Russia has resurrected after being excluded from the more widely known Eurovision Song Contest. The contest focuses on traditional values and patriotic ballads, with each country’s act singing in their native language.

Sanaipei’s participation in Intervision adds another significant chapter to her long and successful career, which spans two decades and includes music, acting, and broadcasting.

Based on the available information, the prize for the winner of the Intervision contest is a cash prize of 30 million Russian roubles, which is equivalent to approximately $360,000 USD or Ksh. 46 million.

There is no information available regarding the amount of money other participants, including Sanaipei Tande, received for their participation. The contest is described as being a competition with a prize for the winner, but it does not mention any financial compensation for non-winning participants.

The official Intervision website announced on August 29, 2025, that Sanaipei Tande was confirmed as Kenya’s entrant for the contest. The Intervision Song Contest is a government-coordinated event, with the Russian government directly engaging with foreign governments to arrange for countries to participate. The contest’s official website confirmed Kenya’s participation on August 20, 2025, and Sanaipei Tande’s entry nine days later.
