Elections are an expensive affair that made Nairobi Governor-elect Johnson Sakaja cough up millions to pay his agents.
Speaking on Citizen TV’s News Night show, Sakaja revealed he spent Ksh.15 million to pay his agents during the August 9th elections.

Sakaja had 3,643 agents across the various polling stations in Nairobi, as well as 396 polling center managers and mobilisers.
The Nairobi Governor-elect noted that he could only afford to pay the agents for three days, adding that for the extra days spent doing the vote tallying and verification exercise, his supporters provided service for free.
“We need to have an electronic transmission for our polls. I have just finished sorting out my agents. It cost me Ksh.15 million. I had 3643 agents for 3 days of work the rest ilikua kujitolea,” said Sakaja.
Sakaja who was running on a UDA party ticket secured the Nairobi Governor seat after garnering 699,392 votes, defeating his main rival Polycarp Igathe of the Jubilee party who got 573,518 votes.
