Phones Are Six Times Dirtier Than Toilet Seats – Study

Mobile phones are six times as dirty as toilet seats.

A study has revealed that over half (52 per cent) of phones are heavily contaminated with microbes as a quarter of people admit that they never clean their device.

Swab tests revealed that one phone had 558 per cent more than a toilet seat’s level of microbes.

Six in ten people confessed to using their phones in the bathroom with a further 15 per cent adding that they did not wash their hands every time they used the facilities.

Hygiene company Initial said of its study: “Every time you touch your phone you could spread microbial activity.

“We recommend washing your hands at least five times a day, and each time you use the washroom.

“And clean your phone regularly with an anti-bacterial wipe.”
