East African music heavyweight Nyashinski returns with his highly
anticipated sophomore album, “Yariasu”, delivering a bold vision of East Africa’s place in global music. The project follows the critically acclaimed debut Lucky You (2020) and a trio of EPs that showcased his creative range and cemented his position as one of Africa’s most versatile artists.
Launched with the singles “Tai Chi”—which marked his signing with Sony Music Entertaiment and the pre-order love anthem “P.I.C (Partner In Crime)”, Yariasu represents Nyashinski’s most ambitious project yet, blending his signature authenticity as well as storytelling with global
aspirations.
True to his signature style, “Yariasu” is a no-features album, an approach Nyashinski first embraced with his debut “Lucky You”, allowing his voice, storytelling, and vision to stand entirely
on their own. Between the two albums, he gifted fans with three critically acclaimed EPs: Therapy (2022), Good Old Days (2024), and To Whom It May Concern (2024), each one deepening his artistry and reinforcing his reputation as a voice of both cultural depth and mass appeal.
At the heart of Yariasu is the opening track “Legendary”, a mission statement where Nyashinski lays bare his ambition and gratitude. On the self-produced track, he raps:
“I’m grateful for it so I celebrate life / Go hard till I fall yea / I wanna be legendary / You will
remember me.”
The track captures his hunger to inspire, uplift, and solidify his legacy—not just in East Africa, but globally. His verses intertwine honesty and vulnerability:
“God knows I am just a sinner / Walking by faith / Thinking like a winner…
Nikipanda stage ni kupandisha level / Na Inspire generation ya marebel!”
This blend of faith, inspiration and unapologetic ambition sets the tone for an album that is both personal and universal. Across Yariasu, Nyashinski explores love, faith, family, resilience, and the realities of ambition. The balance between intimate tracks like “P.I.C”, the gritty bravado of “DPWMM (Don’t Play With My Money)”, and the explosive confidence of “Tai Chi” reflects his constant evolution as an artist unafraid to stretch boundaries.
Speaking about the album, Nyashinski shared, “This album is not just music, it’s a journey I want my fans to fully digest. Every song carries a piece of my story, my faith, my struggles, and my dreams. With Yariasu, I’m speaking to the world, but I’m also speaking to every person who’s been with me through the highs and the lows. I believe East Africa has something powerful to say, and this album is my way of making sure we’re heard.”
Speaking on this culture shaping release: Christine ‘Seven Mosha, Head of Sony Music East Africa, shares “With Yariasu, Nyashinski shows the world why East Africa cannot be ignored. He is
not only raising the bar creatively but also positioning the region for global recognition. This album is a clear statement that our music travels—it speaks across borders, cultures, and generations.”
With Yariasu, Nyashinski demonstrates his unmatched ability to merge local authenticity with global resonance. Each song is crafted with his signature storytelling, lyrical depth, and emotional weight—yet designed to appeal to audiences far beyond East Africa. Yariasu is not just an album; it is a statement of intent, a bold leap from regional stardom to global recognition.
