Nigerian sensation Tems has secured her second Grammy, winning the prestigious Best African Music Performance category for her uplifting hit, Love Me Jeje.
The award-winning artist triumphed over some of Africa’s biggest stars, including Burna Boy (Higher), Asake and Wizkid (MMS), Chris Brown (Sensational), Davido and Lojay (Tomorrow), and Yemi Alade (Tomorrow).
Overwhelmed with gratitude, Tems took to the stage to deliver an emotional acceptance speech. “Dear God, thank you so much for putting me on this stage,“ she expressed, acknowledging her team and managers. She also gave a heartfelt tribute to her mother, who joined her on stage for the special moment.
Love Me Jeje pays homage to Nigerian music history, sampling the classic 1997 hit of the same name by pop pioneer Seyi Sodimu.
This marks Tems’ second Grammy win, following her Best Melodic Rap Performance award in 2023 for her feature on Future’s WAIT FOR YOU, including Drake and prominently sampled her song Higher.
