Netflix’s ‘Tinder Swindler’ Swiped Off The Dating App

An Israeli con man who is the subject of investigation in Netflix’s new documentary ‘The Tinder Swindler’ has been banned from the dating app.

According to the Netflix documentary, Shimon Hayut, allegedly met women on Tinder and thereafter swindled them millions of dollars after catfishing them into believing his name was “Simon Leviev” and that he was the son of Israeli diamond tycoon Lev Leviev.

Following the aftermath of the recently released documentary and as the show gained more traction from people across the world, he gained more than 200,000 followers. Tinder has since banned him from the platform.

Hayut whose real social media pages have been deleted had previously shared a post thanking his followers for “support” then deleted his account and added said he was preparing to tell his version of the story.

Hayut spent five months of a 15-month sentence in an Israeli prison in 2019. He allegedly conned women into handing over cash and credit cards by telling them that his life was in danger. Three of the victims are featured in the 114-minute film, directed by Felicity Morris (“Don’t F*** With Cats”), as are reporters from Norwegian newspaper VG, which helped bring him to justice.

The 28-year-old was allegedly arrested back in June 2019, as reported by the Arab Newspaper, at Athens International Airport, but after serving his sentence, he is back to living his lavish lifestyle.
