Coco
Coco is a vibrant Disney-Pixar film for kids, but don’t be fooled- your dad will be hooked from the beginning. The story follows Miguel (Anthony Gonzalez) a boy who desperately tries to follow his dream of becoming a musician despite his family’s protest and generational ban on music. Along the way, he winds up in the vibrant and colorful Land of the Dead, where he meets a charming skeleton named Hector and together they embark on a journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history. Your dad will enjoy this movie of redemption and don’t be surprised if he chokes up a bit.

Onward
Onward is a funny and engrossing animated feature from Pixar that tackles grief and loss head on for all the father figure types we have in our lives that are worth celebrating alongside our biological dads. This unconventional Father’s day film follows teenage elf brothers Ian and Barley as they set up on an epic quest after their mum reveals a secret to them that their father left them an ancient staff that would bring him back to them for 24-hours. Like any good adventure, their journey is filled with impossible obstacles and unimaginable discoveries. Those with strong connections with their dads or have lost a family member will be captivated and moved. Bring tissues.

Fatherhood
Inspired by Mathew Logenlin’s memoir, Two kisses for Maddy: A memoir of Love and Loss. Netflix original, Fatherhood, follows a single widowed father Matthew (Kevin Hart) who must raise his daughter alone after his wife dies unexpectedly a day after giving birth to their first child. Matt juggles grieving his wife and taking care of their baby at the same time as they create a new normal together.

The Adam Project
The Adam Project is a light, PG 13, time-travel movie about Adam ( Ryan Reynolds) a fighter pilot who heads back to 2022 to try and save the future. He has risked everything to come back in time and he’s forced to enlist the aid of his 12 year-old self (Walker Scobell) and together they must embark on an adventure into the past to find their father, set things right and save the world.

Defending Jacob
Defending Jacob is a series based on the hit book by William Landay which follows a Massachusetts couple whose life is turned upside down by the possibility that their son Jacob Barber ( Jaeden Martell) is actually a murderer – forcing them to confront the limits of what they’d do to protect their family. In this version of the ‘is my kid a killer?’ narrative, Andy Barber (Chris Evans) quickly becomes one of the only people who don’t think that his son is a killer. Even Jacob’s Mum Laurie (Michelle Dockery) begins to question her son’s lack of empathy and is wondering if she could have raised a psychopath. Is Jacob creepy- but-innocent?
