Moral Police Ezekiel Mutua pounces on a gay-themed Hindi movie

Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua has banned yet another homosexual themed movie.

The moral police on Friday (21.02.2020) banned the screening of ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhan’ a Hindi movie which translates to ‘Extra Careful of Marriage’.

In a statement to newsrooms, Mutua stated that the ‘gay-themed’ movie is an affront to the Kenyan Constitution and the institution of the family.

“The film is worse than the ones we have banned in the past as it has scenes involving children in homosexual practices and openly attempts to legitimize same-sex marriage.

“Homosexuality is illegal in Kenya. Further, Kenya is a God-fearing nation which places a great premium on family, an institution derived from a union between two people of the opposite gender,” said Mutua.

“Those who want to consume such content can go and watch it in India where the film was done or any other country where homosexuality is permissible, added Mutua.

“Kenya will not be the dumping ground for all manner of filth that seeks to destroy the institution of family and our cultural identity.”

According to him, the film appears to introduce children to homosexuality by depicting the adaptation of children’s singing-games into gay-themed songs.

“It is against this background that the Board has RESTRICTED the said movie. Any attempt to distribute, broadcast, exhibit or possess such RESTRICTED material will be met with the full force of the law.

The proposed premiere of the film scheduled for February 21, 2020, at IMAX.

In the past, Mr Mutua has banned several movies from being screened in Kenya these include the popular erotic Fifty Shades of Grey movie trilogy based on books by E.L James and the controversial lesbian-themed Kenyan movie ‘Rafiki’ by Wanuri Kahiu.
