Lupita Nyong’o got bars introducing her alter ego ‘Troublemaker’ on the Jimmy Fallon Show

Lupita Nyong’o is more than just an actress, she could be a rapper too.

The beautiful Kenyan queen featured on Jimmy Fallon’s late-night show to discuss her latest project a Hulu theatrical production ‘Little Monsters’ and new children’s book ‘Sulwe’. The ‘Brown Skin Girl’ has been busy exploring all facets of her talent; including her writing abilities.

The Yale alumni who was a guest on the Jimmy Fallon show went on to introduce her alter ego ‘Troublemaker’ before she proceeded to drop a few bars; which sent the audience into a frenzy. In the short clip, Lupita who was dressed in a multi-colored dress and sunglasses first heard the beat and exclaimed ” That’s a dope beat…okay hold up..Troublemaker in the building. Hey!” In the short but sweet rap, she gave a special shout out to music royalty Beyonce and Jay-Z, as well as Jimmy Fallon’s band acclaimed The Roots.

‘Sulwe’ is Lupita’s first book. Speaking about her experience as an author, Oscar winner Nyong’o opened up about her childhood which inspired the book. Taking to Instagram she wrote, “I reflected on this little girl’s feelings and fantasies when I decided to write my children’s book, #Sulwe. With this book, I wanted to hold up a mirror for her. Here’s why: As a little girl reading, I had all of these windows into the lives of people who looked nothing like me, chances to look into their worlds, but I didn’t have any mirrors. While windows help us develop empathy and an understanding of the wider world, mirrors help us develop our sense of self, and our understanding of our own world. They ground us in our body and our experiences.”

“#Sulwe holds up a mirror for dark-skinned children especially, to see themselves reflected immediately, and it is a window for all the others to cherish peering into.”

‘Sulwe’ will be available to the public on October 11th, 2019.
