Looking to go global? Here’s Diamond Platnumz formula for success according to Billboard

Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz’s star continues to shine globally following recognition by Billboard.

Popular music chart Billboard influential in determining the music trends in the United States, has recently referenced Diamond Platnumz formula for success as innovative. The platform recently published an article detailing how musicians can go global through YouTube with a case study of Diamond Platnumz.

The article was meant for American musicians looking for YouTube fame and it emerged Diamond Platnumz’s strategy may effectively work for them. “Western artists can learn from what African artistes are doing, particularly the ones who have broken internationally,” the article read.

“Western artists can learn from what African artists are doing, particularly the ones who have broken internationally,” says YouTube music trends manager Kevin Meenan, who oversaw the collection and analysis of the YouTube Music Charts & Insights data found in this Billboard Deep Dive. He shared a number of noteworthy trends that he found in the process.

Meenan was particularly struck by the innovative approach that Tanzanian bongo flava artist Diamond Platnumz takes with his YouTube channel — just one facet of an entrepreneurial strategy that includes an FM radio station and a full-service management, recording, publishing and entertainment company, Wasafi Classic Baby, which represents Rayvanny and Harmonize among other top music acts

Billboard termed Diamond’s YouTube strategy as innovative, something that all American musicians can learn from. The platform highlighted Diamond’s workaholic nature that has seen him publish at least 600 videos on his channel.

The videos include; music and behind the scenes segments, something other musicians can learn from. Furthermore, Billboard focused on the consistency of sticking to local music as another reason behind his YouTube success.

The article comes at a time when Diamond has been recognized as the African musician with most views on YouTube at 980M since he first started in June 2011. Diamond Platnumz, or Simba as he is also known now has 3.6M subscribers on the video-sharing platform.

This article was first shared on Mdundo.
