Abba Marcus Mayanja, the eldest son of legendary Ugandan musician Jose Chameleone, has spoken out about his father’s ongoing struggles with health and substance abuse.
In a heartfelt Instagram video, Abba urged fans, promoters, and well-wishers to unite in supporting the hitmaker during this critical time.

“My message goes out to everyone who enjoys my father’s music, even those who might not agree with his actions or lifestyle,” Abba said. “I recognize he is flawed, but God put us here to love and care for one another. This is a time for compassion.”
Abba revealed that his father is battling acute pancreatitis, a severe condition linked to prolonged alcohol use. On December 12, Chameleone was rushed to the hospital after a sudden illness, leaving his family and fans deeply concerned about his well-being.
“This is not about endorsing my dad’s substance use,” Abba continued. “It’s about coming together to offer the help he needs. If we want him to remain a part of our family and community, we need to act now.”
The 23-year-old also criticized event promoters for continuing to book his father despite his visible health decline, suggesting their actions prioritize profit over Chameleone’s welfare.
