KOT Call For The Boycott Of KFC, Hours After The Outlet Announced Running Out Of Fries And Included Ugali In Menu

Kenyans on Twitter are calling out for the boycott of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), hours after the eatery announced that they had run out of fries owing to Kenyans’ indulgence over the holidays.

Making the announcement on their platforms, they promised Kenyans that they were hard at work in their quest to resolve the shortage issue, and implored customers to try out their new alternatives, which for the first time, entail ugali.

“Fam, it truly was a happy December. You enjoyed your KFC faves. Y’all loved our chips too much, and we’ve run out. Sorry! Our team is working hard to resolve the issue. In the meantime, here are SWAP options for combo meals if you are craving our chicken,” they posted.

The fast food outlet was running a campaign dubbed Furaha Festive Fest throughout the festive season. The promotion was comprised of 6 pieces of chicken, two large chips, 1 coleslaw and a 1.25 litre soda, retailing at Ksh 1600.

Social media users are now rallying other Kenyans to boycott the outlet, on grounds that they import potatoes, as opposed to sourcing from local potato farmers. Citing local farmers’ losses and deeming an ironic occurrence as the outlet reportedly say they import to ensure global standards, KOT are not holding back. Some users are even going as far as suggesting other fast food joints where suckers for the delicacy can eat at instead.
