TikTok has launched its inaugural Visionary Voices Africa List, spotlighting 15 innovative young Africans making a significant cultural impact.
This initiative celebrates emerging African talents and the next generation of influencers revolutionizing various sectors across the continent. It shines a light on individuals creatively reshaping African culture while using TikTok as a platform to educate, entertain, and advocate for the African community.
The honorees are divided into three categories: Creators, Small Business Owners, and Industry Disruptors. Noteworthy figures include Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy, U.S.-based Kenyan comedian and creator Elsa Majimbo, Guinness World Record-holding chef Hilda Baci, and amapiano star DJ and producer Uncle Waffles.
The comprehensive list also features Nigerian short film producer and creator Blaqboi, and Bolo Bespoke, who leverages TikTok to showcase his fashion house’s unique designs and authentic style, Bespoke City. South African entrepreneur and CEO of Afrocurl, Kayla Kim Kay, and Mwangi Muthoni of Dreadlocks Nairobi, who has transformed his Nairobi salon into a celebrated centre for natural dreadlocks, are also honoured.

To complement this debut list, TikTok is launching the #VisionaryVoicesAfrica programming hub within the app. This hub will feature a curated music playlist highlighting the diverse sounds that are elevating Africa on the global stage.
From July to August, TikTok will spotlight these influential African musicians, celebrating their artistic contributions and cultural impact.
